City of Alamo
The Savannah, Americus and Montgomery Railroad opened in Alamo in 1890 and later became the Seaboard Airline Railroad.
Alamo is located at the intersection of Ga. 126 and U.S. 280 near the western border of Wheeler County. The only other city in the county is Glenwood.
According to 2000 Census, the City of Alamo had a population of 1,943 persons. Between 1990 and 2000, the city experienced a population increase of 127.3%, compared to the state growth during this period of 26.4%.
